Bransgore Recreation Ground

Access Open Space Enhancement Work

Start date: 13th October 2025

Completion date: 19th December 2025

Landscape and environmental improvement works will shortly commence at Bransgore Recreation Ground.

The works will be carried out on behalf of New Forest District Council, in partnership with Bransgore Parish Council, and comprise:

  • Removal of existing concrete post and chain-link fence.
  • Refurbishment of existing vehicular metal barrier gate to surfaced car park entrance.
  • New 1.8m wide hoggin footpath, around the perimeter of the site boundary.
  • New vertical bar railings to northern perimeter of the site.
  • Four dog activity stations arranged along the new footpath.
  • Landscape furniture, bins, benches and signage.
  • Native and ornamental shrub planting.

The recreation ground will remain open to the public during the construction works, but areas of the site will be temporarily cordoned off for Health and Safety reasons, including temporary closure of the Public Right of Way along western the boundary of the site.

NFDC are enhancing local greenspaces and walking routes as part of the council's Green Way recreational mitigation programme. Green Way projects provide improved accessibility and enhance open spaces for the local residents and the general public to enjoy.

Green Way projects help alleviate adverse environmental impacts associated with increased visitor numbers and dog-walking on sensitive areas within the National Park and are funded by the 'Community Infrastructure Levy'.
